Community Youth Employment Program

CYEP

Here’s your chance to work in a hospital setting!

The Community Youth Employment Program (CYEP) serves youth between the ages of 18-24 who are not enrolled in school or any academic program at the point of program enrollment.

One of CYEP’s goals is to send clients on a career path in the healthcare field, one of the fastest growing industries in the country.

Since 2017, AHS has partnered with one of the largest hospital networks in the Midwest, Presence Health (now AMITA health) and smaller healthcare facilities like the Community First Medical Center located on the northwest side of Chicago. The program continues to establish partnerships with community-based organizations and healthcare providers with the aim of widening the network of employment and training resources available to out-of-school youth. Clients do not need to be high school graduates to be eligible.

The paid work experience is a 13-week on-the-job training program that provides youth who have no, little, or erratic work experience with the necessary job skills and relationships that will translate into permanent employment, whether within the CYEP-affiliated worksite or beyond. It is an excellent opportunity to make money while gaining skills from trained employment specialists and scoping out the workforce.

Positions offered through this program include environmental services, food service, supply distribution, and warehouse labor.

Case managers work closely with clients to ensure their success and advocate for them, providing assistance with resumes, cover letters, and other workforce development. Transportation assistance and other supportive services are available during the placement.
